LA CANA aims to transform the prisons in our country into places of opportunity, not punishment. To achieve this, a strategic pillar is to promote actions that positively transform public policies related to social reintegration. This will contribute to improving the capacities of our country's penitentiary system, primarily in terms of work and training for work.

Advocacy in Public Policies seeks to generate a structural impact in our prisons nationwide, thereby contributing to a positive systemic change in the Mexican penitentiary system.

To position LA CANA as an organization specializing in prison labor and training for it, as the foundation of social reintegration.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

• Create a network of allied political actors, officials, and/or public servants interested in bringing the importance of the penitentiary system to the public agenda.
• Establish alliances with other organizations to promote relevant issues in this area.

• Promote regulatory changes that contribute to improving the capacities of our country's penitentiary system, mainly in terms of work and training for it.
• Generate actions that highlight and allow for the socialization of the experience and precedent that LA CANA is establishing regarding the possibility of guaranteeing labor rights for people deprived of their liberty.
