Estas semanas de encierro han redefinido la forma en la que vemos el mundo y nos ha enseñado a valorar nuestra libertad. Por ello, ahora más que nunca queremos ayudar a los que NACIERON CULPABLES.
En México, alrededor de 800 niños viven en prisión en entornos poco dignificantes y aptos para el desarrollo de estos pequeños. Ayúdanos a mejorar esas condiciones y a luchar por aquellos que sin haber cometido un delito, nacieron culpables.

En México, muchos niños son sentenciados a pasar sus primeros tres años de vida en prisión.
Esto se debe a 3 razones principalmente. Durante los años en prisión, las mujeres privadas de la libertad pueden recibir visitas conyugales. Algunos de los matrimonios son contraídos detrás de las rejas. En otros casos, ellas llegaron a la cárcel ya embarazadas. Desafortunadamente, el resto de los embarazos son el resultado de encuentros con otros internos y guardias debido a la corrupción y abuso de poder que se vive ahí dentro.
Como resultado, los recién nacidos permanecen con ellas durante tres años, hasta que son entregados a algún familiar o al Sistema Nacional para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (DIF).
En La Cana (@lacanamx) contamos con programas que buscan transformar las cárceles en lugares de oportunidad y reinserción social para las mujeres, sin embargo, aún queda mucho por hacer, sobre todo para la salud mental y la educación de los bebés y niños mientras están en prisión y después de que salen.
Estamos trabajando con Kavana (@ kavana.life) y Diogo Barroso Photography (@dhphotography), para dar luz a este tema.
Estamos capturando momentos impresionantes de la vida de los niños y sus madres en las cárceles de Zona Metropolitana de México. Las fotos más inspiradoras se publicarán en un libro artístico el cual estará intervenido por las mujeres que participan en nuestros talleres de tejido y bordado. Los libros se distribuirán en línea y en exposiciones fotográficas con el fin de atraer la atención y los recursos necesarios para comenzar nuestros nuevos programas.

In Mexico, many children are sentenced to spend their first three years of life in prison.
There are three main reasons why this can happen. During the years in prison, inmates may receive conjugal visits. Some of these marriages are contracted behind the bars. In other cases, the accused happened to be pregnant before entering prison. Unfortunately, the rest of the pregnancies are a result of corruption or power abuse that led to encounters with other inmates or guards.
The newborns stay with the mothers for three years, until they are taken away to relatives or to The National System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF).
In La Cana (@lacanamx) we already run programmes to transform prisons into places of opportunity and social reintegration for women, but there is still much more that needs to be done for the babies’ psychological health and education while in prison, and after they leave it.
We are working with Kavana (@kavana.life) and Diogo Barroso Photography (@dhphotography), to shed light on this issue.
We are capturing impressive instants of life of the children and their mothers in the prisons of Greater Mexico City. The most inspiring shots will be published in an artist book bound by hand by the women taking part in our knitting and embroidery workshops. The books will be distributed online and in photographic exhibitions to get the attention and resources necessary to activate our future programs.
